Honey Meadow Retreat: A place as beautiful as its name

Some places stay with you long after you’ve left them, Honey Meadow Retreat, Devon is one of those places.

Over five years ago

I remember first meeting Harriet five years ago, not long after I’d trained as a wedding celebrant. At the time, Harriet was beginning to expand her vision for hosting weddings, and from that very first conversation, we instantly connected. Ideas flowed effortlessly between us, and it was clear how deeply passionate she was about creating something special for couples. Harriet has this rare warmth, the kind that makes you feel like you’ve known her for years, even if you’ve only just met. Her laughter is infectious and it’s impossible not to end up laughing within minutes of being in her company.

The Secret Garden

My first visit to Honey Meadow is something I’ll never forget. Walking through the space, I was struck by a feeling of freedom, the sound of birds overhead, and that magical sense that time had simply paused. Growing up in a large city, places like this felt almost unimaginable to me. And yet here I was, stepping through gates into what felt like a secret garden with somewhere else to explore with every step I took.

Glamping Huts and Stargazing Baths

Every corner held something enchanting: outdoor baths perfect for stargazing, cosy spots for marshmallow toasting, (if you haven’t done this as an adult, it really is a must) a rustic pizza oven, charming glamping huts, and the most beautiful courtyard bursting with flowers. The cottages are equally special; they are thoughtfully designed with all the comforts of home, creating a space that feels completely relaxed. It’s idyllic in every sense of the word. This is how you create an amazing wedding weekend, with family and friends joining you on the Friday, letting the celebrations start early.

Outdoor Ceremonies

I also remember meeting JC during those early days, when he was building what would become the wedding arbour. Even then, you could see the care and craftsmanship going into every detail. I don’t think there is anything this man can’t create. The rolling hills make the perfect backdrop as you exchange promises of forever.

The New Barn

At the time, Harriet and JC showed me a barn filled with building materials, explaining their vision to transform it into a wedding space. If I’m honest, I struggled to picture it. I just nodded along. Vision for projects has never been my strong point.

Fast forward to this year, and I was completely blown away. This is where the party truly comes to life. My husband, John from City Beats Disco, and I have been lucky enough to provide everything from beautiful celebrant-led ceremonies to evening discos, LOVE Letters and sweet carts at Honey Meadow Retreat, and every single wedding has been an absolute pleasure.

Unique Weddings

What we love most about Honey Meadow Retreat is that no two weddings are ever the same. Every couple brings their own personality, style and ideas, creating celebrations that are fun, relaxed and completely unique. From festival-inspired weekends and rustic barn styling to unforgettable dance floor moments and personal touches, every wedding feels authentic to the couple.

My journey with Honey Meadow Retreat has come full circle. I had the absolute privilege of marrying Jason and Christine there, and since that special day I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Jason as he photographs many of the ceremonies I conduct.

One of my previous couples, now a trusted wedding supplier
